Death by Chocolate

A Delicious Novel

(Mystery, humor, chocolate recipes)

Lindsay Powell's only secret is the recipe for her chocolate chip cookies, but she is surrounded by neighbors with deadly secrets. Suddenly Lindsay finds herself battling poisoned chocolate, a dead man who doesn't seem very dead and a psycho stalker.

Her best friend and co-worker, Paula, dyes her blond hair brown, hides from everybody and insists on always having an emergency exit from any room. Secrets from Paula's past have come back to put lives in jeopardy.

Determined to help Paula and save her own life, Lindsay enlists the reluctant aid of another neighbor, Fred, an OCD computer nerd. In spite of his mundane existence, Fred possesses tidbits of knowledge about such things as hidden microphones, guns and the inside of maximum security prisons.

Lindsay needs more than a chocolate fix to survive all this chaos.

Murder, Lies and Chocolate

Book 2 in the Death by Chocolate Series

(Mystery, humor, chocolate recipes)

Rodney Bradford comes into Lindsay's restaurant, offers to buy her small house for double its value, eats her brownies, and drops dead on the sidewalk in front. Then someone breaks into her house and tries to dig up her basement. Next her almost-ex-husband offers to sign the divorce papers, but only if she'll give him her small, old house and take his big, new house instead.

Suddenly everybody wants Lindsay's house. Is there oil under the basement, plans to bring the railroad through, pirate treasure buried in the basement? A second break-in occurs and causes her cat, King Henry, to launch into full attack mode, taking a few chunks out of the intruder.

Lindsay enlists the aid of her enigmatic neighbor, Fred, to help solve the mystery while trying to keep her police detective boyfriend, Trent, from getting in their way with his insistence on all those silly cop rules.

On the positive side, sales skyrocket for the special dessert Lindsay calls Murdered Man's Brownies. Prisoners, murderers, crazy relatives and strippers are all part of the chaos in this second book of the Death by Chocolate series.

BONUS! Chocolate recipes at the end of the book. Poison optional.

The Great Chocolate Scam

Book 3 in the Death by Chocolate Series

(Mystery, humor, chocolate recipes)

Rick's car blows up in his driveway. Lindsay is left with an image of Rick's green SUV flying around the neighborhood along with pieces of Rick's blue contact lens in Mrs. Hawkins' driveway, a perfectly creased trouser leg hanging on the street sign, a vertebra on the immaculate lawn.

Since their divorce wasn't final and Rick has no family, Lindsay assumes she is his only heir. Then Bryan Kollar, local celebrity bodybuilder and owner of the chain of gyms, Body by Bryan, comes into Death by Chocolate and asks to buy back the flour mill built by his great-grandfather and purchased by Rick before his death. Lindsay readily agrees that, as soon as she gets title, she'll return it to him.

But before his estate is settled, Rick has more relatives than a lottery winner.

What was Rick planning to do with the old flour mill? Why does Bryan want it back? He doesn't even eat refined flour!

Is the obnoxious Rickie, Jr., really Rick's son? Why is the woman who claims to be Rick's mother so certain the child is not her grandson? Are these people really related to Rick, or was he actually an alien stranded on earth when the mother ship left without him?

Come for the Cookie Dough Cheesecake Bars, stay for the murder, mayhem and fun!

The Ex Who Wouldn't Die

Book 1 in the Charley's Ghost Series

Amanda Randolph is beginning to think she'll never get rid of her lying, cheating, scam artist husband, Charley. He's delayed their divorce for a year and shows no signs of relenting. Then Amanda awakens in the hospital after a near-fatal motorcycle accident to discover that Charley has been murdered.

Finally they are no longer married!

But then she learns she is the primary suspect in Charley's murder and, as if that isn't bad enough, Charley's ghost shows up in her apartment. He was rejected, not allowed to go into the light. The situation was bad enough when he was alive and trying to charm his way back into her life, but now he claims to be unable to go more than a few yards away from her. She can't even be certain he isn't peeking when she undresses for bed.

Even death did not them part.

As Amanda puts her life in danger in an effort to bring Charley's murderer to justice and send him into the light or the dark or anywhere away from her, she learns her knowledge of Charley's misdeeds is only the tip of a toxic iceberg. Charley blackmailed his murderer, blackmailed Amanda's father, lied about his family being dead when he is actually related to half the town of Silver Creek, Texas, and, with his treachery, has stirred up secrets that will change Amanda's life.

The Ex Who Glowed in the Dark

Book 2 in the Charley's Ghost Series

Amanda was in the process of divorcing her lying, cheating husband Charley when he was murdered, so she's stuck with his last name. And even worse, she's stuck with his ghost.

She can't seem to get rid of his ghost, but at least she is able to go to court and get rid of his name. Elated at the small victory, she returns to her motorcycle repair shop ready to celebrate. But her assistant, Dawson, is having a meltdown because his younger brother has been kidnapped.

Amanda can see the obvious pain Dawson is in, but in the two years he's worked for her he's never mentioned a brother. Is this brother real or only an avatar from one of the computer games he loves to play? Charley thinks Dawson is losing it. Amanda thinks Charley lost it a long time ago.

Dawson produces an e-mail from johndoe666@e-mail.com demanding computer code written by Dawson's father as ransom for the boy. That seems a little odd. Don't kidnappers typically want large sums of money in unmarked bills as a ransom?

When Dawson tells Amanda his name isn't really Dawson Page and that, since his parents were murdered two years ago, he and his brother have been living under false identities bequeathed to them by their father, she really begins to worry about him.

Then she talks to his next door neighbor to find out if he saw anything, and the man wearing a tin foil hat tells her he's never seen Dawson's brother, but if somebody's missing, aliens undoubtedly took him to work in the crystal mines on Alpha Centauri.

The Ex Who Conned a Psychic

Third book in the Charley's Ghost Series

by USA Today Bestselling Author Sally Berneathy

Amanda is still haunted by her ex-husband, Charley...literally haunted. He's stuck between this life and the next, unable to move on, unable to get more than a couple of hundred feet away from Amanda and unwilling to go even that far. She'd like to take a shower without worrying about him peeking, to have a phone conversation without him listening and commenting, to have a date with the hot Detective Jake Daggett. Jake has asked, but a threesome with Charley doesn't sound like fun.

Her new friend Teresa, a professional psychic and medium, may be able to help. However, before she moves Charley on to the next life, she needs his help in contacting her own dead husband to find out who murdered him. His ghost isn't talking, and if they can't find his killer, Teresa could go to prison. Amanda would lose not only a friend but also the possibility of getting rid of Charley. The facilities for spiritual progression in prison are limited.

While Amanda is trying to help Teresa find her husband's murderer, a man from Charley's past shows up with a document signed by Charley giving him possession of Amanda's motorcycle shop and apartment. Surely Ronald Collins doesn't really believe he can get away with that, but after he shoots Amanda's live oak tree and burns her truck, she realizes the man is serious...and psychotic.

Amanda just wanted to get rid of her ghost. Now she has a killer, a crazy man, and two ghosts in her life.

The Ex Who Saw a Ghost

Fourth book in the Charley's Ghost Series

by USA Today Bestselling Author Sally Berneathy

Five bodies in a well.

One of them is the brother of a police detective.

That man's ghost is Charley's new best friend.

Amanda is thrilled that Charley can see him. Perhaps this means her ex-husband's ghost is on his way to the light, to a higher plane, to Oklahoma, to anywhere so long as it's away from her.

But the new ghost isn't leaving. He has an agenda, and it doesn't involve finding his killer. Amanda, Charley, Jake, the medium Teresa, and the ghost's brother Ross must hunt down his murderer before one of them is killed.

Charley's not worried, but the others don't have his immunity to death.
